By bringing our schools together in one Trust, we hope to create wonderful opportunities to develop sports across three sites.
While all three schools continue to hold their own sports day, the summer of 2017 saw the inaugural Brightwells Sports Carnival, supported by staff from Chelsea Foundation, the community and education arm of the Stamford Bridge football club.
KS2 students from the three schools were split into teams based on house colours, rather than their home schools. As one competitor said: “It was a great day because not only did we get to do lots of sport, we also got to meet new friends.”
The students took part in long jump, shotput, javelin, hurdles, football, bowling and sprints at the Bishop’s Park event. The final activity of the day was a team-building exercise where students worked together to get a ball from one side of the park to the other without using their hands or letting the ball touch the floor.
Sports coach Lee Castle said: ‘The day was really well organised. It was a very fun and relaxed day even though it had its competitive side and the children really enjoyed it. It was great they got to compete with and against children they had never met before.”
